We still need a team.
Maybe it’s because we are Milwaukie. Nobody trusts that we could do it. But whatever the reason is, the NW league looked Milwaukie over, chose Hillsboro (feel like driving toward the beach for a game?) and all the teams have homes for the season. We weren’t even second choice – we were no choice.
A conference call is taking place today to see if two teams in the market will be allowed, and the 31st is the mandated deadline for the NW league to provide us with one. If we don’t secure a team (which means moving a team that already has a home) city council will then decide if we proceed to find a team outside of the NW league.
If they do manage to secure a team from outside of the NW league, it then goes to a vote in November, in a city that hasn’t had a bonde measure in 20 years.
